I bought a set of used Upper & Lower control arms for my '05 and have a couple questions.

1st: Does anybody know if you can replace the ball joints with OE replacements (moog, motorcraft etc), or are they DJM specific?

Also, I found way too late that one of the inner sleeves on the LCA was missing. Anyone else deal with finding a replacement?

Any help would be great.

Wow, I have the exact same set of control arms..... missing 1 sleeve, ball joints need replacing.

Waiting to see what you find. :c-n:

Well I found you can buy the replacement bushing & sleeve kit from DJM for a bit less than $50 shipped, which is what I think I'll end up doing. With my resources through parts stores we use and digging around various hardware stores I've found some sleeves that are close but not tight enough or too tight clearences for comfort and most of what I found shouldn't be used for suspension parts.

SO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO NEVER CUT CORNERS ON SUSPENSION PARTS. But it's still the fun of the hunt.

But tomorrow we should be slow enough I'll get a couple sets of ball joints sent over and break out the precise measuring tools to see whats what.

I'll definately post any findings.

I figure if I ever get around to installing them, I'll find a sleeve that is close, throw it on my lathe, and make it the right size.

Now on to ball joints.... I havent even looked for them. I'm in no rush, that project is a long way off. But, if you find the right ones, post them up. :icon_thumby:

Well i found replacements for the lower ball joints. Moog part #K8771T does in fact work in the DJM control arms and also has a grease fitting, I pressed them both in Friday afternoon.

I don't know what the difference is on the internals of the DJM's vs Moog.
I haven't tried anything with uppers though, I'll put the arms on my truck and see how they are first. Uppers usually last longer than lowers.

But my next question is what do the sway links look like that come with the control arms??
