I could find much on a search so i figured I'd ask some questions.

My 99 Ranger 2.5Turbo 2wd, is my trail/mud truck and will be trailered the rest of its life. I'm in the process of gathering parts now. D60 front 14B rear.

I'm Leaning super hard in using a np205 case. I've actually thought about running a T5 over the M5od, but the M5od won, because of the cheap availabilty of them. Since The axles are out of a chevy, And I'll be running a chevy case, makes finding parts that much simpler(driveshafts, etc...)

One of my major questions is the shaft connecting the case and tranny. I think a short solid one peice shaft will work. But it needs to be able to stand 300hp spool ups with 38.5 boggers. I thought about square tubing, but I would rather run round pipe. Just because it looks better :bling:

I'm no stranger to building rigs, I'm 21yrs old and this will be my 3rd rig that i plan on keeping a long while. 1st was a 86Toyo 2wd. It got 79 yota axles stuffed with 5.29's and lockrites, with a 307ci/Th350 and AA adaptor for yota case. Running on 39.5's. 2nd was a 87 4wd, 12-bolt rear 10bolt front 3.73's, It had a 283ci, then upgraded to a 327ci with th350/208 case, sitting on 36's.

So any opinions and ideas are more than welcomed!!:thefinger:

i think a few Dodges had the NP205 divorced case....definately know Ford had them in the late 70's.....

i'm sure you could find a regular NP205 and find a front cover plate to convert it to divorced duty....

as for a short shaft....just use the short one from a 2 piece SC Ranger....plenty of those out there....and i'm sure it would hold up to 300HP...

Sweet, thanks. Now its just finding one! Or calling atlas haha!!

A short solid shaft won't work. You will need to have u-joints unless the entire drivetrain is solid mounted and perfectly in line. Otherwise you will blow the bearings out of the tranny, case, or both. Suzuki samurais run a divorced case with a 3rd driveshaft as an example. You could take a regular driveshaft and shorten it to fit and that would take all 300 vhp. Run 1350 or 1410 joints for beef.

I'm thinking that by solid shaft, he meant one without a slip-joint in it...
