Happy Veteran's day my friends. I took the cap off my distributor and found that the slop back and forth is right at a sixteenth of an inch. One of my friends says that is way to much. It sounds and feels like to much too me....what do you guys think? I also noticed that there was a fair amount of moisture and oil residue in the cap and body of the distributor likely from pressure in the crank case looking for a way out. The reason I pulled the cap is the pickup was running, I shut it off to remove the air cleaner assy. and it would not re-fire, and I mean not even a try. So I pulled the coil wire at the dist. cap and found good spark with a spark plug, then I put the plug in a plug wire and got a real pathetic spark...almost not a spark, and yes the coil wire was hooked back up.

You can probably find another one on ebay for reasonable. If you buy a new one without the TFI module be sure and put the heat sinc grease on the flat surface before you put it back on the new one.

i got a tfi one u can have. complete with cap and rotor, i was about to throw it out. pay for shipping and its yours

The_Dealer....I am all over that! What is the best way for me to pay the shipping? Send me an email with your recommendations. My E-mail is sausagemaneric@yahoo.com. Oh by the way....I presume everyone thinks that 1/16" is to much? And mine is the distributor with the large diameter cap

I believe you just switch the cap adaptor from your dizzy over to the one your getting, the larger cap and rotor are better there is no cross firing inside the cap giving you a crisper spark. I could be wrong but when I first got my 83 ranger they kept giving me the wrong cap and rotor at the part store you wiil know when you get the new dizzy.
