distributor shocks me

putting a 2.3 mini-stock in my S10 race truck. using the Ford Duraspark distributor with MSD Blaster2 coil. wiring as follows from the module mounted on the distributor - top 3 wires cut off. next 2 go to plus and minus side of coil. Bottom wire goes to chassis ground. Motor starts and runs fine but i get shocked when i touch the distrubutor.
Any ideas?

What kind of shape are the plug wires in?

I was getting a shock from my dizzy at one point...turned out to be the ground wire inside the distributor was frayed...

If you take the cap off have a look at the wires that run into the distributor...there is one that grounds out on the stator or the plate that's at the base...if it looks frayed or fried, you may need to replace the connector...which means the base plate IIRC...

Other than that, yes...the wires can give shocks too...I've gotten shocks from my plug wires a few times...especially if the ground is wet and you're touching the body of the truck...

I spent about $100 on a good set of wires...that was a shock...but it actually helped and I didn't have to spray them down with silicone because they were well insulated...makes a big difference in getting the spark to where it's supposed to be instead of arcing out on the valve cover or other metal parts...

Don't touch the distrubutor?Seriously,have you a good ground thur the bottom of the dis.to the block?did you clean it good?As was said,check the wires inside and make sure you have a good ground from the Dura spark box to the engine

Thanks for all the tips. The plug wires are good quality Taylor and brand new. I'll check the wires inside the distributor just in case. I'm using the stock hold down clamp so i should be OK there but it won't hurt to check again. Again, thanks for the tips.
