Just curious, i got my ranger engine rebuilt and back in my truck and its running great. BUT, i noticed that when i accelerate and shift from 1st to second i get a little bit of a lull right away maybe indicating my vacuum advance isn't quite working properly? Just curious if anyone has had any issues with this and also curious about how much would a MSD Ignition set up cost me and how hard is a install? Not even sure if MSD would really make a difference with a mostly stock 2.3L.

hmmm..only problem with that is the carb probably isnt a year old, and its a new weber with a K&N. But could it just be too much out of tune? Can the dist. just kind of go out? Or when it does does it just stop working?

the pick up module inside the dist can go out, causing no signal to be sent to the ign control mod and thus no spark to the coil, but these are usually only good or bad. if you have a flat spot i would try tuning the carb first, or rather checking the burn color on the plugs and then writing down your settings on the adjustment screws so you can always go back to the way it was if you get it too far out of tune to run at all. have you checked your timing yet?

Yes checked timing yesterday it was running great. Idles awsome. Everything runs great its just when i'm accelerating from second to first mainly it seems to lug a little getting into 2nd, and my dad was saying the vacuum advance is what helps it accelerate so i wasn't sure if this could be the issue? Since the engine just got rebuilt i figured it have a little more get up and go, but it is a 2.3L from 83. I also notice my gas pedal is a sticky maybe a new accelerator cable could help?
