Check to make sure you didnt pull the oil pump drive out of the oil pump. I had this same thing just happen to me. It looked like it was in all the in but it was slighty cocked sideways. I used one of those cable grabbers with the claws on the end to re insert it, otherwise I would have had to pull the pan.

Take a 1/4 inch socket and turn the oil pump drive shaft just a little bit. You might have to turn it a couple of times but it will eventually go in.
