Distributor help please

Hello TRS. I'm new here, Can someone help me get to any articles or help with our 86 2.0 distributor? having trouble getting timing correct/ distributor and rotor alignment.
Secondly, we were under the impression that the engine is a 2.0, But how do I verify this?

I know nothing about the old ranger engines but since its older, timing rhe distributor should be like any older engine set up.

Does the distributor bosy twist any when its installed to the engine? Like can you rotate it to adjust timing a little once its installed? If so, bring your engine to tdc on the compression stroke for cylinder 1 and then drop the distributor in with the arm pointing at any pole. That will now be your number 1 on the distributor. Time it like normal, now.
