Lota stock cars fans.or just stocking up for theyre own rides.any tips, advice, or pics would help alot

I got my dizzy, hei unit, off ebay new for cheap. The sellers name is skipwhite. Shipped in its own custom foam box, LLT warranty, etc... it has the steel gear on it that roller 302 blocks use.

I don't think my rebuilt '85 dizzy was that bad, like $65-75.

Check around with like rockauto for cheaper prices too. :icon_thumby:

Alright. Thanks guys.

Are you changing your Cam too ?

There is a difference in the lope separation on an EFI and a Carb type cams.

Something to look at before changing to a Carb or at least think about once the engine starts and IF there is a problem.

You did say you are tight in the $$$ department so a change to a carb may or may not be the best choice.

No. I wasnt changing the cam. I had talked to several mechanics and they told me id be fine with a carb on this motor. If it runs into more problems like that internally. Il buy a 70s model 302 frm junkyard and rebuild it ot just buy crate engine nxt yr at tax time. I fidnt knw that could even become an issue. Thank u for the heads up

Only the roller motors has a billet (steel) camshaft and need the 85 mustang dura spark distributor.
Your engine being a non roller cam can use any of the dura spark distributors.
You can adapt the harness from a 460 or 351-400 m .

Ive been told my 302 is roller motor. I have what guys call a spider track under my intake. Idk. Anyways. My stock distributor has steel gear as well.

I my self would use a stock type disy first or a gm type hel disy made for your app that uses stock parts before I would use the "trick" none stock parts because of eas of getting repair or replacement parts , cap ,rotor button, pickup,so on.

I have ran both the standard and HO cams with a carb and they both ran great.

If he has the 2.8 (most 4x4's did) it would be FAR cheaper to stay carbed than to swap in an entire electronic and fuel system to support a later model EFI system.

Thank u. I will being going hei direction.
As for swapping to efi. No way. My truck was carbed. Aint changing harness. Gas tank. Fuel pump. Il keep it simple. So i can work on it. Goin frm 2.8 to 302 is suppose to be easiest swap. Ive ran into enough problems.
