distributer help!!

where is # 1 cyl on a 1988 2.3 distriburer cap? i removed my cap and wiers to clean and ispect them and i put it all together like the chiltons book sed but its back fiering and the pic diagram in chiltons is shity. im having a relly hard time and its pissing me off.

The caps usually only go on one way due to the design of the base plate...but #1 should be facing the driver's side fender almost directly...at least it is on mine and it shows the same for carb/FI as far as I can recall...

EDIT: Check the firing order...easy to mix up...but it should be 1,3,4,2 going clockwise from #1...

i am sorry this is one of my dumb ?s i figerd it out. on my truck it i diffrent for some reson? botom right post on dissy is #1 top right is #2 top left is #4 and botom left is #3
