disciplerocks's B2 build thread

dustin you dont need that heavy of steel, with a good design some 2x2 1/8 wall for the frame and a single piece of 2x3 3/16's will be more then enough.

i paid $40ish a stick for the 2x2 and 80-90 for the stick of 2x3

you would probably need 2 sticks of the 2x2 and about 8ft of the 2x3, a 7.5 or 8.8 and some leaf springs

Sounds better. I'll have to get some more quotes.

This is pretty much what I am going to do

Hmm i like it. I may have to get me another 78 bed for my truck, i will have matching size tires tho lol not bigger on the trailer like that guy haha

Screw it. At $19 for 24', I'm doing a wooden frame. Say what you want, but I'm doing it.

Are you going pressure treated, or pine?? :icon_rofl: Seriously, get you 3x3 or 2x3 angle at the very least and use that for your A frame/tongue...

Don't drive down the road beside me please. It makes no sense to do it out of wood.

I know what you are saying, but I can afford to do it now, and I trust it more than trying to weld that thick with my welder and hope it holds.

a metal frame trailer with a wooden deck makes sense. a metal deck with a wooden frame does not. the vibrations (especially where you mount the leaf springs) are gonna start eating that wood up from the first time you drive it.

try it though, see how it looks, you'll only be out $20 and a few hours of your time. and if it doesnt work you'll have the base of a sweet new tree house built

I like the sound of that lol.

oh yes TREE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL..

is wood DOT approved??? lol

i think it's time for a tree house build thread

ive seen people use it for lift blocks :shok: not recommended

those same people have probably had sexual interactions with 1 or more cousins

end thread jack

You would be better using the angle from a bed frame than using wood...If designed right you can make it out of 1/8 thick material...Better yet use 1/8 thick angle for the A frame, once completed wrap it with another piece of 1/8 angle, overlapping the welds on the other angle, and weld the two 1/8 angles together, giving you a 1/4 thick frame....or get the material and I'll weld it up for you :icon_thumby:

I'd trust welding te leaf springs to the bed before I would trust a wood frame. If you do it just make sure you have good insurance.

Nope, I used 1/8" angle on my shock hoop. Snapped it in half. Don't trust it.
