Hey does anyone know how to disable the daytime running lights or just be able to turn off all the lights while the truck is running.

Man, I would like mine to be on all the time. It is so much safer. You should just leave them alone and stay safe. I have had so many people pull out in front of me at all times of the day. My wife has them on the Corolla and I know that people see the car all the time because of that. I am going to look into getting my Ranger to have them on all the time.

Hmmmm...maybe you are doing this for a criminal reason? So you can leave the motor running when you are in the act of a crime?? Haaaaaaa!!!

. I have had so many people pull out in front of me at all times of the day because they aren't paying attention.

And having your headlights on won't make the idiots pay attention to what is happening around them.

Find and remove your DRL module.

Acutely...statistics don't lie. According to the automobile safety foundation and NSTHA there have been less auto accidents for vehicals with daylight running lights then those with out daylight running lights. So they must work. I for one would not disconnect them. If my Ranger had them I would feel safer for sure. I notice a car with lights on more then one without them. I know one thing..whenever I drive in an area with a lot of tress that block the sun and it is getting late in the afternoon, I turn on my lights. If I had daylight running lights I would not have to do this since they would already be on.

Day time running lights are nice when your driving. But when you have to back into the drive or your warmming up the truck the lights are in the neighbors house. Fortunately my truck doesn't have that problem. On the old Astro van I had if you pushed in the parking brake the headlights would go off. Maybe this true for Ford to.

Hrm.... On my GM (I know, right) the DRL's don't come on until it's taken out of park. I also have the option to turn the headlight switch counter clockwise to turn off both the DRL's and the automatic headlights at night....in case I wanna go stealth mode..lol

Surely Ford make this possible?

Ford did. Its the Canadian government that is the issue here.

Canada requires all vehicles to have DRLs, and if you go back far enough that they weren't a factory option there is a kit that the Canadian Government made the dealership install to just turn the headlights on when the engine is running.

They did have a nasty habit of melting down and making the whole system not work no matter what.

My fiance's dad taught her to drive with her headlights on during all times of the day...It annoys the heck out of me....

People who drive with their lights on during the day bug me too. And I know enough to know when it's a DRL system and when someone goes to the trouble of turning them on.

I guess I just feel that in broad daylight there is no reason that you should need someone to have their lights on so you can see them. If you are paying attention to the road that is.

on my 94, the DRL module was mounted on the rad support, i never had a bumper on her so i reached up under the grill on the drivers side , almost by the headlight, and hauled the wires out of the module. as easy as that.

are you sure? here it dont matter if your rig doesnt have them, as long as you have your headlight turned on 2 hours before sunset and until 2 hours after sunrise

I dunno if its Canadian Federal or some of the provinces, but I know that a lot of Canadian vehicles have an aftermarket DRL setup.

The two fords I have both turn off the daytime running lights when you push in the parking brake. Wonder if there is a way you can defeat it by putting a switch to make it think the brake is on.:icon_idea:
