Disable daytime running lights

People who drive with their lights on during the day bug me too. And I know enough to know when it's a DRL system and when someone goes to the trouble of turning them on.

I guess I just feel that in broad daylight there is no reason that you should need someone to have their lights on so you can see them. If you are paying attention to the road that is.

Whenever I drive overseas I drive with the lights on and everyone flashes their lights at me during the daytime. I love doing it just because it drives them crazy.

Actually if DRL's had an effect on driving safety the US insurance industry would be all over it.

But the fact is that after a two year period in canada when DRLs were new to the roads the increase in safety evaporated on them.

It seems you notice the few cars that have them... but when MOST cars have them the advantage goes away.

the US vehicles have a jumper block that goes into the plug for the DRM relay module.

ok guys drls are safer yes. who cares if they bother you. i have a 03 b4000. i cant find any module. i just wanna be able to turn my lights off when the truck is running or when i just have to radio on with the truck turned off. how the hell do i do that. right when i turn the key the lights come on its friggin retarded. help me out would ya.

Your module is mounted to the rad support behind the front bumper.

i know on g.m. vehicles they go off when you have the parking brake on, you could just push the parking brake pedal to the first click and be good, the brakes wont be applied at one click and the lights would be killed, of course you would have to get used to that idiot light on the dash saying the parking brake was on. on the blazer i found a fuse that was strictly for the drl. i pulled it and cured that problem. i 'spose on fords pulling the drl module would be the way to go if there isnt a fuse just for the drl's.

Our S10 has that stupid shit and I've been planning to disable it but just haven't got around to it. It has screwed me over at least once when the battery was a little run down. As soon as you turn the key on, the lights come on. It didn't quite start on the first crank, and when I hit the key again it didn't have the juice to fire. Just seems dumb to me to have an extra power drain while trying to start an engine, especially in very cold weather.
