I just pulled my in tank pump out on my 88 Ford B2 2.9, and the prefilter on the pump had some dirt spots on it. There was some dirt that fell into my fuel tank while it was off, is it bad to have SOME dirt in the tank? could that kill the fuel pump again?

There is a reason there is a sock on the pump.

Odds are good your last pump died from old age, not from dirt.

Thanks for the advice, i dont wanna go clean it right now
