I'm assuming these deep sticks tubes on the 2.9 V6 are all press fit? I noticed today while tuning mine up it's broken about 2 1/2 inches below the top anybody ever tried to replace one while the motor was in the truck? I am not real interested in pulling it for a dip stick tube. Also just to the left of the cellunoid from the passenger side what is the small part with the Vac lines coming out of it? Mine sometime runs after I shut the ignition off and sometimes doesn't? All help is appreciated, glad I found this site!

Dipstick tube is easy and is held in by slight press fit and one stud with a nut on top of the driver's exhaust manifold. Twist and pull gently after removing the nut that the little sheeet metal tab bolts onto. Second problem sounds like a bad ignition switch (in the steering column).

I'm sorry what I was trying to say is the part next to the cellunoid humms after the truck is off sometimes not the truck running when I turn off the key.

pretty sure that is the MAP sensor. it has like 2 vacuum lines and 1 electrical plugged into it?? just a bit bigger than an old flip top lighter.

nope, its not the solenoid or the ignition switch, or the map sensor, thats the EVR solenoid for the EGR valve. I assume that the truck is an 86 or 87? it could be bad but it is probably just bleeding off vaccuum. Pull codes to see if there is an issue with it.

bingo....

Ok, how do I pull codes from this truck (86 Model) I didn't think it was as easy as the newer model where you plug and read them and cross reference with the list? Couple guys I know said these are a little different?
