i dont know if i spelled that right but o well lol.

i heard a couple of clinks out of the rear end lately and didnt really think too much of it. then last nite driving home at midnight it goes bam like a cannon in my cab. and the truck shimmies. i said oh shit.

today i jacked it up, popped the diff cover off and look what i find. look at whats lodged in the ring. then i dont know how to describe it. the pin in the middle inside the ring i guess. it is cracked clean through. im thinking of just swapping a whole new rearend in? this seems too far gone to waste time on.

what do you guys think?

nasty i know.

comon guys no one thiniks this is out of the ordinary? i cant get the drive shaft bolts out? any ideas

Kind of an unusual failure there. Looks cool though- I know you don't think so 'cause the truck is down and its goona cost bucks. I'd keep the gear once its replaced and keep it on your wall of shame if you have one. I do, and lots of exploded stuff I've taken out of cars over the years.

By can't get the bolts out, don't know what to tell you. Try a torch...

The screw that holds the pin in looks good. In uperr right on first pic. Sometimes that screw backs out and pin slides out. That a 12 point socket 12mm and a breaker bar to get the driveshaft bolts out.

Clean it out real good, grind out the chip, and sell the truck!:icon_surprised:
