I have a new to me 99 Ranger XLT regular cab 4x4 that is in need of a new rear diff cover. I went to take the fill plug out before draining the old fluid and found it stripped and stuck. Instead of trying to get the plug out I’d prefer to just add a new cover with a fill plug in it. Has anyone found a reasonably priced option? I have an 8.8 non-limited-slip axle, with a 28 spline ring gear. I spoke with Matt from Solid Axles about their 8.8 Ford cover, he says it will work, but I’ve found several reviews that it doesn’t quite fit the 28 spline variant. Looking for any and all advice.

I haven't seen anything out there that isn't cast aluminum or iron with the features you are looking for. You could get the cover you have or a new cover modified to have them. You just need a bung fitting or two (if you are going to install a fill plug, might as well get a drain plug installed while you are at it) and get a weld shop to weld them onto the cover. You will more than likely need to provided measurements for their locations. You won't want the drain too low that it interferes with sealing the cover and the drain plug too high that you over fill the differential.
