When considering the motors put into manual vs automatic trucks, are there any differences between the motors themselves, or are the motors completely identical, with the only differences being what's bolted onto the crankshaft (flywheel/clutch/pressure plate vs driveplate/torque converter)?
Specifically, I'm curious about the 4.0 OHV, 93-94 range of motors, but it's an interesting blanket question all around. My mechanic told me that there might be a difference between the camshafts/cams, but I can't find confirmation anywhere. It's something I've wondered for a while, and visual inspection of a 93 auto vs a 94 manual doesn't reveal any obvious differences, so I'm wondering if anyone's got the scoop.
Thanks in advance
