so i read a bit and it seems the only physical difference is the front flange?

is there anything that makes one more strong than the other?

Newer (95' IIRC) 1354's have a 6 pinion gear planetary setup vs. the older and 1350's 4 pinion setup. Also the 1354's have a revised shift fork and seem more reliable.

ohh now this is some good info. i'll keep my eye out for a good deal on a 1354 of the newer style i guess

1350's have splined outputs. 1354's have flanged outputs. Linkages are different between the two as well.

FWIW...I pulled my parts 1354 from a Gen2 ranger...it's a 6-gear planetary. Could mean all 90+'s are 6-gear planetarys?

The difference with the "six pinion" planetary was MUCH earlier, 1993-ish

The sh9ft fork changed with the planetary.

It isn't ONLY the front flange that's different but the entire front output.

a 13-50 has a long angled snout with a U-joint INSIDE the case.
