Difference between lifts?

Well I have a hockey puck lift... not because I was cheap and didn't want to spend 200 on a 3" body lift. But because I only wanted 1" of lift, I used all the proper measures but thread locking and torquing the lift down, and I keep an eye on it to make sure everythings hunky dory...

And in no way did we tell this guy to go make his own body lift with washers and bubblegum.

Hockey pucks are to play hockey with. Nowhere on the package does it say suitable for body lifts

if your using your ranger for heavy loads, I would recommend some air springs in the back to help the sag out.

that is not how i did my hockey puck lift. no wonder it pulled through.
my gen 1, 1983, 4x4 came with 195/75x15 stock tires/wheels. quite small really. currently running 31" tires on 16" wheels wiht only a 2" body lift. best part is there is no change in factory suspension and handling. no alignment issues at all. no added expenses for longer shocks and other components. i can still tow any one of my various trailers without any problems. and there is lots more room around the frame and drive train to work.
body lift was the best choice for my needs. no 2nd guessing, no regrets. just my $.02.

well i am not a fan of how body lifts work and look, so I'm going with torsion keys on my ranger. i know yours is too old for torsion but for maybe some other no so informed person has another option instead of just body or suspension lifts.

Notice how the washer isn't much bigger then the hole either. If you have a 3" washer that is the same size as the puck (AKA your body mounts) the pressure will be evenly spread over the puck and it can withstand all the pressure it needs. Granted the rubber they are made of is like body bushings but not exactly so it will crack... you have to replace them every year or 2. I don't recommend them but I do run them personally and if you feel safe with them then you can run em.
