Dies while running

Its not a problem with the fuel pump I ran countless pressure tests and it only dies when the hood is shut. Its definitely a heat related ignition problem. BTW are there coolant passages in the intake around the ICM.

okay man try this for me camshaft sensor replace it and should be good.

or crankshaft sensor try camshaft first that's what was wrong with mine a while back

unless he has a ca model he dosen't have a cam sensor. have you tried the thermal paste on the back side of the icm yet? and no i don't think there are any cooling passages on the intake mani.

I tried the thermal paste, it didnt help any. Is there any way to test the cam sensor to see if it is bad.

no clue i just replaced it the parts store told me to check it and thats what fixed it.

i think the 93 cali model has one too. you can just unplugg it to test it. truck runs fine without it on the 93 and 94. its kinda burried under the ICM where the distributor would be. if you have one you'll see it there, if not there will just be a plug in the dizzy hole.

This is another one of those things that's not worth replacing on a guess. on my 94 the cam synchronier was probably one of the hardest things to change. I'd rather change a clutch than the cam synchronizer. Not to mention it's about 80 bux.

If i were you i'd have the new ICM tested. Also is the truck throwing any codes? like danger said it could be the crank shaft sensor.
What's it doing now anyways? just refusing to start or is it just dying randomly?

rockauto sells a camshaft positioning sensor for a 1993. I posted a link to the rangerstaion.com tech forum where in there write up they say 94 for CA and 95 for the rest

Its doing the same thing as its been doing just takes 2 hours to die instead of 30 min. Like I said before its got a new crank sensor, 2 new coil packs, and new plugs and wires that the prior owner put in. Also found out why it miss fires cylinders 2 and 3 plug wires were crossed. It runs even better now but it still dies randomly.

Almost forgot its not throwing any codes.
