Dies while running

I didnt put the screws back but im kinda back to square one cus its doing the same thing with the new icm but now it runs longer before it dies.

did u put the thermal paste on the back of it before installation? Electronics do not like to get hot.

No i did not. The new ICM did not come with any. Where can i get thermal paste, a parts store?

I've never seen thermal paste come with a ECM/PCM/ICM..... But I guess its possible.... When it dies, does any "Idiot Lights" come on? Do they come on right before it dies? Does it only do it when idling or while driving or moving? Does it have any alarm system?

No lights, no stumbling, no warning whatsoever. When it dies the only light that comes on is oil pressure for obvious reasons. Sometimes if its about to die and Im giving it gas it acts like it has no power but stays running until i let off the gas.

Almost forgot sometimes i get a small misfire happens randomly at an idle.

have you tried unplugging the MAF sensor? or the IAC motor?

I know exactly what you're talking about. Mines does this about once every 2-3 months for no apparent reason. I still haven't tracked it down but i'm pretty sure it's not fuel related.

I'm still convinced it's a gremlin in the ignition system somewhere. You can get the thermal paste at a computer store for sure. dunno if auto parts stores carry it. Kinda suprised the new ICM didn't come with any.... hmm

As far as whoever said they've never heard of this- it's because it's only necessary when the electronic device is located too close to a direct heat source- a.k.a mounted on the intake manifold. I would start there and double check all the ignition systems wiring.

Def a fuel related problem.... change fuel filter, fuel pump, and or fuel pump relay....

easy enough to figure out, carry some starter fluid around with you and next time it dies and will not start spray fluid into the TB and try to start it if it kicks over it is fuel related if not it is spark

if you think it's fuel related get a guage and check things out. replacing good parts is a waste of money. especially the pump. i would never replace a feul pump on a whim. that's alot of work for a random guess.

bet it starts right back up and runs fine too. right up until it completely dies.
