I went to https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment to check on mine, filled out the form, and got a message that says "payment status unavailable".

According to their website:

"If you verified your identity and received “Payment Status Not Available,” this means we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time. This may occur for a variety of reasons, for example, if you didn’t file either a 2018 or 2019 tax return or you recently filed and the return has not been fully processed."

I find something else online that says:

"According to that IRS FAQ, here’s when you might see the “payment status unavailable” message:

  • If you are not eligible for a payment
  • If you are required to file a tax return and have not filed in tax year 2018 or 2019
  • If you recently filed your return or provided information through Non-Filers: Enter Your Payment Info on IRS.gov
  • If you are a SSA or RRB Form 1099 recipient, SSI or VA benefit recipient
That.. is a lot of different reasons. Making it worse, “payment status unavailable” also appears if you simply enter a made-up social security number, birth date, and address combination, so it appears to be generic catch-all error for the system, instead of a useful or actionable error message."

IDK. I filed a 2018 and 2019 return, and I know I'm eligible.

The wife and I were scheduled to receive our checks today. We changed banks so it had no place to be direct deposited. It appears it is now a waiting game for a paper check to be delivered to our home address.

I got mine Monday. My girlfriend got hers yesterday.

Mines coming by mail so I'm expecting it sometime around june of 2026

Has anyone that's suppose to receive it by mail checked the status of it on the IRS site?

I got the same as you Jim. who knows... it is a government fiasco, look at what the Affordable Healthcare Act website was when it started out... we can blame the Obama or the Trump administration, but to be honest, I would imagine that the nuts and bolts behind both fiasco's have not changed much over the last decade or so...

Only got half of mine. Was laid off most of last year, so I know they didn't base it off my 2019 return, even though it was in by end of March.

Hearing lots of people on the internet say the same.

Also one guy in Indiana apparently got $8.2m from it. Didn't get to keep it, but still...

He could have kept it if he was faster getting to the bank...

Ours was here yesterday or the day before.

How many of y'all are just going to frame your check, since it has the president's name on it?

Some of the current and former cops on here can give you the statistics on getting away with murder if it's a jury trial.

My time as a federal employee taught me that nobody escapes the IRS. Not by judge. Not by jury. Nobody is immune. They will find ways to execute jurisdiction in any country on earth.

You can hide from them for a while. But you cannot outrun them, and you certainly cannot escape them.

They always win.

Great, so its just gonna bounce...

don't know.
my bank is only doing "by appointment" in person business, one every 15 minutes.
until last week they allowed "walk-ins" if there was an opening or no-show.
when I arrived to try a walk-in today they said to make an appointment.
the lobby doors are kept locked, an attendant will let you in if you arrive on time.
the 2 closest branches to me don't have drive thru's.
me, being an 'Ol Fart, refuses to do ATM or online banking.
Grrr, time to break down and set up some of the new fangled procedures.
