Did you get your stimulus check?

I'm 67.
used to work for EDS servicing computer systems for credit unions so I'm no stranger to technology.

Ahhh... a fellow EDS'r. Were you around when the CEO tanked our stock then we had to give him $53 million to leave?

I just don't see you as a black or blue suit... red tie and wing tips type.

I've been hearing some conflicting information about the checks. I received one direct deposited into my bank yesterday but I believe that this was because I'm lazy and didn't file my 2019 taxes until 2 days ago and they based my check on my 2018 taxes. From consulting with my parents, friends, family, etc it seems random if they got a direct deposit or a paper check EVEN IF they had direct deposit set up with the IRS. Some people I talked to had the "status unavailable" notice from IRS.gov. Truthfully the way the IRS works is a mystery to me. I feel fortunate to have gotten one but I wish it was more transparent for everyone else when they will receive theirs.

We got ours yesterday... It was only about $2k for a couple with a kid. I guess we made too much.

Has anyone that's suppose to receive it by mail checked the status of it on the IRS site?

Mine just says I am eligible for the stimulus check, then gives an option to enter bank account information for direct deposit. However, I have no idea if or when I'll ever receive a check...I'm not holding my breath and it don't matter anyhow it'll be put in a savings account to go back to the IRS in 2021 you know damn well they'll want that back plus interest, not going to spend it because I don't have that kind of money to have to send back to them next tax season.

I wonder if some of those messages are due to different income levels....not saying post your income here but possibly if you make more than say $25,000 a year you may be the next batch going out after everyone in the sub $25k income level gets theirs? Just a thought, have no idea, but possibly why the unavailable message is coming up.

Doesn't look like I've received anything yet.

Status unavailable.

I'll never see a dime. But then I won't have to pay it back. Yay?
I won't have to pay mine back anyhow, its just going to sit in a savings account till next tax season and be returned to the IRS...I know better than to accept money from the government for any reason as a stimulus, remember last time they did this, you got taxed for it and payed it back the following year...only this time its a much larger chunk of dollars so it'll be even worse for many as it'll most likely bump them into a higher tax bracket making for a mess come 2021.

I worked for a small independent company, World Computer, that was acquired by EDS somewhere in the mid 90's.
they were still a part of GM then.
I was down-sized out in Oct 2001.
yeah, doing computer hardware maint in a suit was a real trip. our customers still had the old tech stuff, tape & disk drives were 100# plus then.
when the credit union customers left they pulled me into Auburn Hills. I had the pleasure of commuting 98 miles each way thru Detroit daily.

just checked the history, stocks tanked in Jan '99, I was there then.

worked out OK for me, HP took them over and now I get a small pension check every month.

back on topic, direct deposit yesterday for both me and wiffie.

I prefer to do in person transactions at local branches.
unfortunately that's about to change.

Doing all of your banking online is safer than doing it in person. You have less chance of getting shot if the bank gets robbed while you just happen to be in there.

Well I lived in Auburn Hills... was always tied to a GM account. That time I was working at the Truck Product Center. I've worked at many GM facilities.

I'm still waiting on my pension... they try every year to just buy me out. If they would make a good enough offer I would probably just take it. Small world huh?

Some say it depends on if you had IRS direct deposit or send a check when you filed for a tax refund. 3rd party advances will also slow things down because they will receive your covid check.

This is just stuff I've heard talking to friends and family. Nobody I have talked to has received any money.

Now Trump wants to open up businesses to get the economy going, before all the money is delegated and will probably not send all of it out. Then claim there is a surplus of cash and pat himself on the back. He has a reputation for finishing major construction deals " ahead of schedule & under budget". Google how many times he has been sued by construction companies.

I was on the team that migrated from Windows Dos? to 98. was all after hours work. we had the run of the place, both the office complex and pre production plants.
one night I got super lucky and had the failure analysis department. I spent 4 hours in the lab with electron scanning microscopes, it was GREAT!!

did you ever see "the wall of fasteners"? or the Suburban cut up like slices of bread to test different configurations?
