I have 4.10s in the back diff. Now Im pretty sure this horrible noise is coming from the rear end of my truck. As im driving down the highway or side streets, every time I hit a bump the back end of my truck starts weaving back side to side. Then it feels like there is something holding the truck back. Almost as the brakes are applied but their not. As thats happening the truck starts shaking really badly. I hit another bump and it all goes away.

I just did the rear brakes completly, all new parts, shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, adjusters, springs, cables.

The truck has 33's and is lifted 4 inches.

I really need some kind of advice or something to look for.

Please.

Pull the diff cover and look at the gears. Just be sure to have a drain pan handy to catch the differential gear oil and anything else that might have broken. Gear oil stinks after its been abused for a few thousand miles so try not to spill it everywhere.

The weaving side-to-side thing sounds like something with the suspension, not the axle (broken leafspring hangers due to rust?)

That's what I was thinking.

I changed the leaf springs, and the hangers were all in good shape, slightly rusted but not rusted threw. :dunno:

How can I check this?

I am not sure but since you just did the brakes and it feels like the brakes are applied I would be looking for something around the brakes. Like the self adjuster and stuff...?

Although I am going to have to go with 4x4junkie too because the back end weaving side to side is... to say the least... odd.

You said you lifted it, when was that, and did you use new hardware? Also are you sure the pads are in correctly? They are front and back specific.

middle bearing on the drive shaft. its the carrier bearing? i just had mine make it feel like my trucks about to fall apart. gonna fix that today.... daamn its already 330 am

You mean the 2 peice driveshaft? I don't think that would cause a swaying motion... it would explain the jolting though... if not properly greased it can start to bind up especially when hitting bumps. Look at your drive shaft (or did you say it was a one piece in another post?:icon_confused:) if it has that rubber boot on it it may be time to grease er up.

Alright I checked everything out, My rear brakes were perfectly fine. I replaced the front drive shaft because the end that went on the transfer case would shake i grabed it and went up and down and it would go up and down on that end, i know i shouldnt do that.

I took my diff cover off and everything looked great. I pull new oil in there.

Finally i took my front wheel off and figured out it was a bad wheel bearing. Replaced it and everything is all set.
