pulled the carpet back on my 85 only to find alot of surface rust. so i decided to put bed liner in the cab and trash the carpet. also with the extra paint, i painted the rocker panels. heres a few pics, let me know what ya think...

i used duplicolor, its all the autoparts store had, i like it though but the test of time will better determine how tuff it actually is.

i say i waited until the paint was mostly cuered, it felt still a lil soft and i was just very careful pulling the tape off.

I'd watch those rubber mats..I've heard that without the padding that goes under the carpet, the floor pans get very, very hot somehow. Just wanted to get ya a headsup incase they start melting or something.

otherwise, very nice. What'd you do to prep the metal with all that rust?

nice i need to do that to my tuck but i think im goin to go and have it line x over at yipes, also me rockers both bumpers and the bed

yea i'll watch out for that, not too woried tho since they were like 10$ at walmart but thanx i'll have to watch that. i used a variety of wire wheels, sand paper and a belt sander slightly, took forever getting all the crevases ect.

here are some night pics of the rockers, if they aren't that great, i can get some more in the morn.

thats a nice clean look. nice job.

i remember when i did my bed i waited to pull the tap off and i couldnt get it to come off clean. looks good, i have heard things about the bedliner material getting too hot, you will have to let me know how it works.

I'm actually very curious about your down the road results as well. The only thing keeping me from doing the same thing is a few people have been saying that without the padding it gets very loud in there. Let us know if that's true.
