diamond cut vs. projector headlights

One of my rangers has what i call projector headlights, but my brother keeps calling them diamond cut, are they the same? And if not what is the difference? And its a 93 ranger if it matters.

I dont see how he could argue it. must be a toyota thing. do a google search for projector headlights and show him that all them look like that.

he keeps saying the ones i got don't have th glass piece over the bulbs or something and that they're not actual projectors

do you have a pic of your headlights? if they have anything that resembles a projector in them they are not diamond cut

they look exactly like the bottom pic, clear corners and all, i know they're projectors. what would be considered the "projector"? would it be the smaller light or the bigger one with the crystal looking thing in the center?

True "projector" lights have a very simply design, with what kinda looks like a giant magnifying glass as a lens. Behind the glass is the reflector. Between the reflector and the glass is a piece of metal we'll call a "wall" that blocks all the bulbs light at the bottom (high beam light).

Now, there is a new projector called a "Bi" light (i.e. "Bi-Halogen"), which uses an electric solenoid to drop the "wall" when the high beams are actuated. Still uses a single filament bulb.

Neither headlight in the photo in post #2 looks to be a projector light (sorry). At least not a true projector. The main light is considered a diamond cut light. I can't quite tell what the smaller light is though. (in the turn signal position...is it still a turn signal?).

Here's a photo of a true projector light (happens to be a BiHalogen projector):


But I wish the photo was a head-on shot. Then I could be sure on yours.

The bottom part is a projector style foglight. I have them on my truck. Paid over $300 back when APC first came out with them many years ago...

this guy ^^^... he knows whats up. sure, ebay or wherever you bought those lights will say that they're projectors, but its just a gimmick to attract customers. i hate to say it, but your toyota loving brother is right.

you can try to custom make some. i know several people who have retrofitted projector housings from other cars into ford headlights

tell him to fix his floor mats or do an exorcism to his acelerator before they start having mind of their own and make him crash his toyo-duh instead of messing with your Ranger's headlights lol
