I recently bought a 2000 Ford Ranger (Supercab, XLT, 4wd, 3.0) with 72,500 miles on it. It has a Motorcraft Silver Series battery in it and I'm trying to determine when it was manufactured. The round white/green sticker on it's side says H-1 which would lead me to believe it was manufactured August 2001. The battery is in great shape, so I really doubt it is 10 years old. Am I reading the code wrong?

August 2011 isn't here yet, so I would have to assume it's 2001. I've heard of batteries lasting that long, though it's not real common (especially with starting batteries).

Somewhere on the battery should be some numbers "branded" into the case (often around the edge of the top). You could try decoding those as well.
