So there was a nasty vibe getting nastier and I removed the rear drive shaft and the double carden (sp?) was run dry and toasted. (not the spider u-joint bearings but the ball) Six States Distributors (drive shaft guru masters) here in Ogden, UT says that they have to chop off the end yoke of the thing (because it was run dry) and weld a new one on there, balance, and then install new bearings. The guy said that he would call me before he would do any work on it. What kind of money do these things cost to be rebuilt usually? (when they are toasted like mine of course) He couldn't give me an estimate at the time. Do you guys just buy new ones when this happens?
The drive shaft came off of a 86 BII with a posi-track (sp?) rear end. I don't think it has a lift. All questions, comments, concerns are greatly appreciated. Glad to be apart of this. I'll post some pictures soon.
(yes i did read the how to fix a carden drive shaft self help page)
