delayed forward engage

Ok guys heres a good one; 1994 ranger 4x4 4.0 a4ld. When put into forward gears, trans. fails to engage for 15 to 60 seconds depending on its mood. After engagement, trans operates flawlessly. No delay at all when put into reverse. No difference if temp. is warm or cold. Have changed valve body, fluid & filter,and adjusted bands. Ideas anyone? thanks.

Well boys, she finally decided she`d had enough and puked out on me friday. Got another ready to go in so i`m havin a fun sunday swappin it out. Will rebuild the other one this spring or after trout season when i get time and will report on my findings here. Thanks, Hoss.
