Definition of a Ricer

i agree those really worked and had a reason for beaing on those cars. the vato-zone wings dont really do anything, and even if they did it has no effect on a FWD car:icon_twisted:
Truth is, Chrysler's engineers didn't need to make the wing that high for racing purposes, a lower one worked just as well in prototype testing, but then you couldn't open the trunk lid.

I still love the time I had a ricer pull up next to me and start revving out someone... I was in my diesel and a side pipe. Revved it up just right to where it dumped the smoke out right into his open window... the smoke was still coming out by the next light.

haha ive done the same but with tire smoke in my 96 ranger gotta love when the wind blows just right =)

There are only two cars that look righteous with a huge rear spoiler.

1970 Plymouth Superbird

1969 Dodge Charger Daytona

The also did help with directional stability, like the rear fin on an aircraft.

It is also kind of funny how those old Mopars could make about any color work without looking tacky.

Different cars do different things at high speeds, sometimes it might get light on the rear which isn't a good thing even on a FWD.

... but I had my Laser up to 100mph once, and it was as stable as a hunk of granite without one.

BTW I saw a dually Dodge the day before yesterday with one on the bed cover.

Fixed it for ya :P

jk.

One of those cars yours? Those subaru's are badass.

When someone says "Evo" what I think of is this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancair_Propjet

the original name for this aircraft with a 350hp piston engine
was the Evolution...

Then soma maniac decided the airplane would be more fun with 750hp:)

BTW, ignore the WIKI page specs, the aircraft is now built
not with the Czech Walter 601 engine but rather a Pratt&Witney Canada PTC-6A-125 engine.

The Walter engine was rated at 750hp at sea level
the PTC engine is rated at 750hp at 28,000ft

also the takeoff and landing distance with the PTC engine
is now 1000ft (the PTC engine and 4-blade Hartzell props generate more reverse thrust on landing)

think of it, something that weighs about what an empty Ranger supercab does with a 750hp engine... CRUISING speed of 340mph, max speed 375mph (340kts):)

And a real bargain at just under a million dollars...

I always wondered, why the hell didn't they just mount the wing to the truck lid?? Then it wouldn't have to be so damn tall and goofy looking. I think those Superbirds are one of the ugliest cars ever made.

+1!

keep in mind, were dealing with CHRYSLER engineers here. not exactly the smartest out there.
