I don't know what axles im gonna need. For starters I am goin to be doing a 4bt swap and I know a d35 and 8.8 won't be able to handle the torque, I also plan to run around a 35 inch tire, so what do you guys recommend?

The last ranger I saw with that engine swap had the same type of axles in it and has held up. It all just depends on what your going to use the truck for too.

honestly i'd say ton it. just to have that extra axle when you realize you want 37's... member you always want the next size tire... so just build it once on tons and be done.

i've seen d35/8.8 hold up to a 4bt tho.. not personally. but online

1 tons, no doubt and I assume you already know but you are starting on a journey of spending every dollar you make for a few years if you proceed

Damn I was afraid of that.lol but I can get 1 tons for cheap but the sas is gonna suck(ive never done one)

its not that hard. don't let it scare you

Well I have no idea what I need or anythin. The actual putting the axle under the truck is no biggy its deciding what suspension to use and gettin all the parts together.is there some kind of write up on what to grab?

find out what you want. either leafs or arms? coils? coilovers?

i'd say the bets way to do it is some y-arm long arms. and coils (or coilovers if you can afford it)

i can get better pics. but this jeep flexs like crazy. coils and custom y-arm stuff upfront.

now leafs-- are simplier to set up, and cheaper. and can flex decent. look it up. look around on pirate and here for "extreme" suspension set up. do a search for sas on here. there's tons of write ups

If you could get more pics thatd be great. I have thought of coilovers BUT like you said they are expensive.and another thing I have to keep in mind is with the susp.that soft will I still be able to dd it? But thanks gor the info:icon_thumby:

that tj, is dd'able, its just super soft lol.. but you can get stiffer coil overs.
i'll try to get more pics. or dig them up over on midsouthjeeps. its a flex monster

4-linked rear. y-link long ra's up front

i would just toss in a 31 spline 8.8 in the rear and go with the 35 in the front replace parts when they break, and as you need to... you can get a full size d44 for fairly cheap, if you're thinking about doing that in the long run, an f-150 8.8 wouldn't be bad... it would be 31 spline

That is beast!

Well the trojble with that is when I get the motor im gonna build it a bit so if I just put tons under it then ill be set and won't be coughin money up as much I would with the others.

ton's wouldn't be a bad idea, though the initial expense will be more... i was just thinking that 31 spline 8.8's and d44's aren't all that uncommon... the 4bt stock isn't a hugely powerful motor, it's not bad, but it's not a powerhouse by many standards...

off topic, if you want to see what a 4bt can do, check out this car, i helped build it (if you look close enough, you will see pictures of me in the blog section of it...

I will say running y-long arms is nice and makes adjusting the axle and whatnot very easy. When I did my SAS I had never done anything it before. I did a year of research before I did my SAS to my truck. Dont be afraid to do something to your vehicle that you want to do, but make sure that you can do it though i.e tools resorces, etc... and have all of those things at the ready.

I will say 1 tons seem like a bit over kill but you never know.
