decal glue removal

I just bought a 2000 ex cab the previous owner removed the decals off of the sides and not the glue. What can I use to remove the glue but not the paint as a repaint is not in my budget right now

Try warming glue up with a hair dryer and spray a little penetrating oil on it a rub off with a terry cloth rag.

Goo B Gone works good too...used that to remove the silicone on a bunch of old storm windows...

I've had good luck with using WD40 or a orange clean, both work without paint damage. The decals in removed from my Ranger had been on for so long the they made pits in the paint the was under them, so mine had to be painted.

3m adhesive remover will do the job. And for stubborn ones, use wheel eraser.

Naptha -Zippo lighter fluid on a rag and it will wipe right off.

Rubber wheel is the most fun. Zippo fluid or 3M glue remover are likely the least effort. None of them should damage the paint, but you can put waves in the clear if you get too rough with the rubber wheel, but you almost have to try to do that.

The guys that remove that nasty tint inside cars and trucks told me to spray ammonia on the decals. The ammonia penetrates the plastic / vinyl etc. and the decals and tint come right off. Haven't tried it yet but ammonia is a buck a bottle. Use a heat gun and a plastic scraper. I have the same prob so I'll be doing this as soon as warm weather gets here.

I spent about 3 hours lastnight with a heat gun taking all the decals off my new Ranger with a Sport Package, Goof Off worked pretty good on what was left.

Lighter fluid would be the best thing to use, just make sure to rinse it off asap to avoid any damages.

Rubbing alcohol works well and most people have it in their medicine cabinet.
