Looking for input...

I found some thin perforated SS sheets and have thoughts of screwing trimmed to fit pieces of it over the cowl vents. Should keep the big stuff out and still allow adequate air flow in.

The neighbor has a big oak and we have lots of squirrels. They sit in the tree and drop acorn husks on my Bronco II. With that and leaves and the rest... my drains plugged and soaked the floor.

Anyone have other ideas that have worked for you?

I did that to mine Uncle. just using old screen wire which hadn't actually been used before, it was just remnants of a bygone era when people actually repaired their own broken or torn screens.
It's been at least ten or 12 years now, I'll check it out and see how well it's done for holding up

If you could get under the cowl and affix true metal screen... that would work well.

Even though I'm not doing a show truck... I was thinking the perforated sheet might add a bit of form with the function.

Only access to under the cowl are the 2 wiper access panels, and it would be hard to get anything "stiff" and wide enough in there to attach to under side

Might find some paintable "cowl covers", like reverse hood scoops, that would keep debris out, use screen on open side, and allow air flow for heater, and not look to bad

It would have to be really low profile...

I actually thought of this... but isn't really any room for the wipers to move.

I've thought about fabbing something using magnetic tape making a frame, with stiff aluminum screen mesh epoxied on, or sandwiched between two layers of the mag tape. I don't know if magnetic tape would hold good enough, though.

Magnetic tape is useful stuff. I made some masks from it, for steel wheels, to stick over black paint around the holes before painting the wheel silver.

I guess I haven't done one there, mine were underneath
That thing is welded all around, it would take something akin to building a ship in a bottle to put anything in there
Maybe pull the wiper motors and work through those holes

How about something like this? ...

Rugged Ridge Cowl Vent Scoop; Smoked (87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ; 98-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ)

Rugged Ridge Jeep Wrangler Cowl Vent Scoop; Smoked 11352.01 (87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ; 98-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ) - Free Shipping (extremeterrain.com)

Surely you could get them cheaper like a rear window deflector... from a junk yard.

Product main large

I don't think anything like that will clear the wiper arms. For sure you would need two.

I'll have to have another look tomorrow and put a tape to it.

I'm still thinking some perforated panels and a few stainless sheet metal screws and the problem is solved.

I would use stainless bolts but butterfly molly "nuts"(anchors) to hold them, so no holes in cowl, just needs to be snug

If/when you remove the panels it would be like nothing was ever there

That is a simply smashing idea!

Where on earth am I gonna find those?
