It's official. My truck hates spark plugs. The engine is a totally stock 4L V6 and over the past ~10k miles it has killed 4 plugs out of two different sets. The first set was Motorcraft OEM, the second was Autolite XP. I changed out the Motorcrafts and just figured they were old at about 80k (and probably were about due but looked clean enough when one stopped sparking). The Autolite's have now had THREE give up the ghost out of at least two different lots of plugs (they were bought of the course of about 18 months in different cities). Before I move onto set three (Bosch) does anyone have any ideas about why my truck might be doing this?
The wires are about 10k old, I tested the resistance across the coil pack and it was within normal limits. The plugs look clean and the shop said "I don't know, just keep replacing plugs." Thanks guys,
J
