The wife and I are planning a weekend trip to the falls. What is a good free or really cheep p,ace to see them. Also if one was to sleep in a car to save hotel cost. (Her idea). What is a good safe place to go? Also any other freeish places to go that don't suck torest in

haven't been in years but you really should ride the maid in the mist boat (i think that is the name) costs some money but you get a ride to the base of the falls and get a little wet in the process. just pay for the hotel it would be a lot safer. look for deals on expedia . com , hotels . com, or priceline . com....

Absolutely. NF is 30 mins from me.
Free camping spots are unavailable. But, there is a fairly close campground (cheap too) 4 Mile Creek State Park in Youngstown, NY.
Most of the touristy attractions are on the Canadian side. If you plan to go there, I'd recommend bringing your passport or enhanced drivers license. Its also easier to walk across the bridge than drive. Free parking is available at the casino, a few blocks away.
Unfortunately, there isn't much to eat on the US side unless you're into Indian or Chinese. So, you'd have to venture to nearby Youngstown or Lewiston, NY or head for the highly populated Town of Niagara (about 20 mins from the falls)
Hiking is free at the Niagara Gorge just downstream from the falls, and you can take guided tours too. There's the Maid of the Mist boat tour (bring a change of clothes) for $15? I think. maybe less. Then there's museums, an aquarium, the aforementioned casino, Artpark isn't far away and offers cheap or free near nightly concerts. Then of course there's Buffalo too.
Lemme know if you have any questions.

Oh also good places to see the falls are Niagara Falls State Park and the Canadian side. you can get an interesting glimpse from part of the Gorge Trail downstream - but it can be a tough place to find.

Isn't Niagara Falls known as the "Honeymoon Capital" ? If so, aplenty of lodging ??

There sure is. Some cheaper than others. But Stegomon was looking for cheap alternatives. There are plenty of hotels in downtown NF, as well as motels in the surrounding area.

I just see an amazon deal for a hotel room at the Old Stone boutique. Regular 313 down to 159 plus tax weekday checkin. 189 weekend checkin. Includes some food wine tour and tasting, chocolate factory tour and tasting. It's Canadian side of the falls.

That's actually a really good deal. I Think I'll look into that for myself
