dash swap gen 2 into gen 1

im thinkin bout takin my 89 bII dash and putting into an 87 ranger. ive looked all over , and read some, but has anyone done this n completed it?? successfully??

I'm getting ready to put a Explorer Dash into my 88 Ranger, but I have to repair alot of rust first, but any how it looks to be a simple bolt in job, I have both out, and to me it looks like every thing was bolted in the same place.

i just did this into my 88, i swapped dash and the colume, on the gen one there i a piece of metal holding the pedal assembly that you have to beak off it hasa couple of tack welds on it, and you have to bolt the new pedal assembley there by drilling the holes out, also on my swap the bolts my the windshield no all of them lined up i only have two there lol othere thatn that it wasnt to bad it took me a alittle under a day to do it and about a week to work out all the bugs

how did the wiring mess differ from gen 1 to gen 2???

I'm going to use the whole Gen two wiring harness, so I can't help you there??

i did the 4.0 swap so under the hood was already agen 2 wiring so the inside was plug and play
