dash panel?

Remove the ash tray and the 3 belt mouldings along that same line. The trim panels just pull out, get your fingers under the lip and give it a good yank. You will find 4 more screws. Also, while not required, it is helpful to remove the column shrouds.

thanks I'll try that this weekend if I get a chance to work on it

If you ever have trouble pulling a panel/trim/etc...

Just run your fingers around the edges and gently tug along the way. Clips will pop or loosen, but if you find resistance...there's some other form of retention.

There's hidden nuts/screws all over the place. Try pulling a deck out of an older civic or chevy cavalier. Lol...you have to pull the whole dash on the cavalier. And VW has some fun ones.

Consider yourself lucky. Lol

yeah, you have to take off the trim below that bezel and there are another four or so screws holding it in. it will still not want to come off, take a butter knife and slip under the upper edge(where the first four screws were) and pry down and then it should come out... remember to put it back in reverse order... it's smoother that way
