I want to convert all my dash lights to blue in my truck including the a/c controls and 4x4 knob. Ive seen photos on here of guys that have done it but i would like to know how. arent the gauge covers themselves green or is it a green bulb. photos and bulb parts numbers would help aswell, thanks

It is a white bulb and a green film over the openings where the light shines through. I've heard of people taking the film off but don't know where i saw it

im pretty sure in your truck you have a green film on your gauges so you will have to take out the gauges and scrape the film off. check superbrightleds.com for bulbs thats where i got mine.

check my sig for my build thread and check out my gauges its like on page 4. in mine the film is actually blue and when the yellow lights from the bulbs shine through it comes out green. at least thats what they tell me.

and read through this thread it is where i got all my info, from the the search function.... click here

Since LEDs emit only their designed wavelength of light, a blue LED isn't impacted much by the green film in the instrument cluster. I just installed some cheap inverted cone LEDs that I bought on ebay for like $2....work great, look pretty cool at night. They are not extremely bright, but with the dimmer turned up, I think they give the dash a cool look. My only complaint is maybe the odometer is a little hard to read at night.

I also did a mod for the headlight switch (yes, there is a little bulb back there!). The same mod works for the 4x4 switch.
