You going to run gas or flux wire?

Because the frame is boxed in at the steering box where it mounts to the frame, makes it hard to get a bolt and nut in there.

Also need to buy a drill...okay about everything since my dad owns all the tools that I used to get my truck to where it is.

Flux for new because of the location of the power outlet, right next to the garage door and the chance of wind blowing away the shielding gas would be pretty good, but it can run either, but will get a bottle anyways. Cost for a small spool of flux wire, $19.99. Gas wire spool, $9.99 plus the cost of a small bottle which is about $35 and what ever the deposit is.

Only noticeable difference I've seen between gas and flux is the gas has a cleaner finish vs the flux ti have to wire brush clean. I prefer to weld in a well ventilated area and my garage only has one window.

Strength wise, none that I've had have given way on me.

Now one tool a really want is a deep cut hand held band saw. My work has one and I've seen it in action...puts hacksawing by hand a thing I don't want to do again, haven't priced one yet though.

Drill the holes then tap them. I used self tapping 7/16 bolts. They eve held up without a hint of a issue and haven't came loose once July.

Problem is getting a drill up and in to the tight space to get a hole drilled.

So I figured the easiest way is probably to take the mount off the truck and drill a couple of holes in the lower part of the mount and a couple in the frame, making sure they are going to line up. Super glue can hold a nut in the wrench to get into the boxed area of the frame, so long as I'm not getting in the way of the steering box bolts.

Give me a month and I will either have it done or this project started.

That works too!
Not bragging but we've had the mildest winter on record I believe. It's been pretty darn nice being able to work on stuff. I hated repairing my buddies rigs in the snow during deer season. -7 degrees lookin for shorts in the wire harness, changing tires, etc made me a mad son of a gun!

My welder came today, can't wait to get home!!!

Got the welder assembled and played with it then went and took a look at my track bar mount for the frame and was seeing how I can bolt it to the bottom of it. Turns out, kind figured this anyways, that it is completely boxed in there so what I'm going to do is what one guy did on here is put some self tapping bolts or tap the bolt holes I'm going to put there since I can't get into the boxed section to put a nut on. Plus I will be putting bolts in front of the boxed area and I can get a wrench and my fingers in there.

Been busy this weekend because of the passing of my great aunt so hopefully if all goes well this week, be starting on this next weekend.

Why not just run a brace to the engine crossmember like I did?

I may do that and bolt the lower front part to the bottom of the frame, do both. Have to get a vise and an angle grinder next.

You have a welder now so just weld it

Did that a couple of times and the weld itself broke however the weld on the frame didn't so I figured I would just bolt it. Never know when I decided to make a new mount that will allow a trackbar like you have.

Got a goodie for the truck.

CBS are great to have! When you're in the mountains or out of town where there's no cell service they're worth their weight in gold. Marine radios are 10X better but they cost more lol.

I'll be happy to get it mounted in the truck somewhere, probably under the glove box since my shifter comes up right under the dash where most people mount them in these trucks.
