dangerranger1983 build

hey man im loving your build keep up the good work and thats funny you got a flowmaster 50 when i seen you needed a muffler i was thinking of a flowmaster 50 hahaha lol:icon_thumby:

Thanks. I would love to go be able to take her on a long drive and see how she does but want to instal, an identical to what I have now but one that works, engine coolant temp guage. Last one lasted 12 years. Also get a cover over the floor, there alot of heat that comes off that engine.

I will say, she is a blast to drive. Haven't estimated gas mileage yet but if i could, looks like its doing okay.

And the speedo is only reading 4mph off now, slow that is, so its back to normal.

On the other hand, I need to find better bolt on rotors, you can feel the weight of the truck now and it having a but of a harder time trying to stop. Maybe a master cylinder upgrade to an f250 one?

With the stock brakes mine stopped the same before the swap as it did after. Not sure how D28 and D30 brakes compare though...

Then again I do have my old transmission and a bunch of other scrap metal from the swap in the bed too along with steel crap from other stuff that weighs about 400 or so pounds. It's probably not helping either. But I do all need to get new rotors and brake pads.

So scrap all the stuff in the bed and go buy your rotors and pads. Just do it!!!

May just end up doing that after this holiday weekend. The pads have a LLT warranty on them. Need to take the truck out for a good driving and my local jy would be a great place to go to turn the scrap into. I say that would be a good way to kill two birds with one stone.

Something that is part of the belt system isn't wanting to turn on start up making it squeal like hell on start up and restarts. I think it could be my new water pump due to it is leaking from the back part. If it was my power steering pump I think it would make it hard to turn or squeal when it is being used. My belt has plenty of tension on it. I will look at the pulleys and see which one has shiny marks on it.

Other then that she drives great but I still have to get the last few things buttoned up on her and start designing my new transmission cross member.

Did you get all the oil off the belt when it wore a hole in the line?

That would do it, unless it was doing it before you gave everything a oil bath.

you need to use dawn dish soap on all the pulleys and get a new belt.

It's was doing it before the oil line got a hole in it. The oil actually made the noise go away for a few days.

Guess the belt needed tightening, it hasn't made a sound since.

Threw on an old air cleaner that I had laying around from my old TBI setup that I had on the old 2.8. Will try to get a better one but this will do for now.

as long as it fits good. it will work better than the "cool" chrome open element filters that are good at gettin filters soggy. been there seen that

wasnt even an open element on the B2 but still resulted in soggy filter

if you have the room some of the older chev's has a uber tall filter housing that took a uber tall filter. with a little dremel work you can make it possiable to roate the housing pointing it twords cooler air and rotating it backwards when goin into the woods also would be fairly easy to adapt to a snorkel if wanted in the future

you can kinda see the filter im talkin bout in this pic

Kroussin- Good info! I have a chrome filter lol. I'm gonna look for another type now!

The one that is on has an off center open on it that allows the use of running a bigger filter housing which also keeps it from hitting the dizzy too. I plan on running a different one, you know one of a 60s or 70s 302 to give it that old school look, but also make it so that I can run piping to the outside cool air. I just thought about it and I could run the one of my carb from my 2.8 but I don't have a filter that will fit it and it will make the top sit on goofy and I don't want that. The biggest I can go if I did go with the chrome open filter is ten inches in diameter.

I'm not even sure if I'm going to put different headers on her now. She has more then enough performance for what I need. At most put a set of the explorer cast manifold on if I come across a set of cheap since they will bolt to my current exhaust setup.

Woke up to late today to even think about starting on the hole in the floor and I don't have a tape measure on hand to take measurements to start on the next trans xmember.
