dangerranger1983 build

I did slam on the breaks and did almost take out a vehicle due to it happening. Thing was it was so dark couldnt see anything and i did have my fog lights on. I almost went and got a dozen eggs and then egg all the vehicles at that house but decided not to.

Here in a bit going to get the seal from autozone.

Found the truck manual and the front seal wont be hard to replace at all. But why the hell does it have to cost twice as much as the rear seal?

Wont be able to get to fixing it until Wednesday though so I will have to keep an eye on everything until then.

Got the seal put in and it wasnt all that bad. Only thing with the front one is getting the rubber boot off for the shaft, couldnt get it off when I went to instal the front driveshaft. Get paid friday so I will get the front one soon after that.

The boot just pops off. Take a small prybar to it.

If all else fails...BFH!!!!!

Have drove about 15 miles and no leaks from the new seal :D

I forgot to ask, but what does it mean whe I turn the rear driveshaft and both of the wheels turn the same dirrection and even with me trying to keep one from spinning I cant turn either of them. I also tried just turning one wheel and they both turned the same dirrection.

I assume this means that my rear end is L/S.

It is possible to have a L/S. Does it still have the ID tag?

Ya it does but havent checked it though. If it is an open diff., it sure doesnt act like one.

No I have seen the rear end apart and it wasnt welded, had to change axles seals years ago, but dont remember if it had L/S stuff in it or not. But does have the tag on it. Ill just get a video on it if it ever cools down outside and check the tag on it.

nice build... just read 40 pages, but what the hell im getting paid to read your build... anyway i did the same build pretty much but, my axle is a dana 44 from a new rubicon, and i built my lower control arms, and i did a crossover steering, and now im dealing with the same DW, and your right, it puckers your ass when you see a bump. Im lucky enough to have another rig to drive to work but im getting sick of not being able to drive it, especially cause i havnt been able to test my air locker and such, im done except for this DW. going to take it to a buddy who has a custom 4x4 shop and he is going to help me figure it out.

Jack up the front of you truck and get the tires off the ground and put the axle on jack stands then take your front wheels and try to move them side to side with your hands, did that to mine and found what my problem was, which was my trackbar not being tight enough to the frame mount. If you find nothing, then its something that is flexing really baddly that only the force of the truck can do. Check your castor angle too, you may not have enough, I did see that your upper arms werent adjustable, I have heard of a guy that was off by 1.5 degrees on his jeep and it was causing a DW. Just be sure to check EVERYTHING that touches the front axle and that holds it on. I have also heard that bad side walls on tires can cause this too.

DW is the scariest shit to happen while driving and what is worse when you go to slam on the brakes to stop and somebody is right on your ass and almost rear ends you. Mine was so bad that I would go over the slightest bump/depression in the road and it would do it. Generally happens when the passenger side tire hits a bump first, why Im not sure.

Thank god I haven't had the DW yet. Guess that is why I went with all new parts

My front end has all new parts on it now.

Ordered the front driveshaft transfercase seal and it will be in next tuesday. May look up how much EB shock towers are.

why EB? my shock towers were less than $30 shipped.. (but they went up after i ordered them lol).. but you have the weird shocks right? don't wanna replace them?
