Ordered the new one should be in tomorrow morning at the parts store and hopefully driving too.

you shouldn't break things like that, it gets costly, and it's just more work for you.:nono:

Robert

Thing is I didnt know it was going to break, it just kinda does that on its own, there the bearings that came with the axle. Hopefully have it fixed tomorrow (today).

Got the one side fixed!!!! Handles better doesnt pull to that side now and the brakes work just as they should too.

So shiny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next week hopefully replace the other side to prevent it from doing the samething.

Nothing much to update otheer then had the death wobble return on me a few times when I hit thigs such as sunken manhole covers or potholes on the road. a quick look and the tightening up of the track bar bolts hopefully fix this, did last time they came loose. I will say when it does happen, people quit driving up your ass and actually follow the two car space rule for driving. The death wobble that have currently happened for me have only occured at low speeds.

Hopefully oreder the other side bearing and get it done soon too plus get some warm weather so I can get other things done.

You should fix that bracket or make something different that wont come loose. You dont want that to come loose while driving at highway speeds.

What came loose was the track bar bolt thats on the axle mount and allowedf it to have enough play to do that. My mount to the frame is welded to the frame so theres no getting loose there, but the part below the welded area is what flexes a bit and that is getting fixed as soon as it warms up outside.

Other things on my todo list are get new TRE's for my steering linkage, Ill just keep the jeep stuff until I have a reason to upgrade to something better. Also need to look at a jeep and see what the steering stablizer bracket looks like so I can get an idea of how to make mine, but first need to get the other one off first, nut is froze to it but nothing a dremal tool cant fix.

If I didnt already say what year my axle is, I found out right from the original owner of it. Turns out its an 85, and I have to say its in nice shape too for its age.

i just got done reading your entire thread on your build. i must say you have some fine fab skills.. love the detailed post and how you solved your problems and challenges :icon_thumby:

on that track bar that keeps pop'n loose is there a way to drill a hole and put a cotter pin in it so it don't back off again? ( since I'm a 2 wheeler I'm in a gray area on the 4x4 suspension):dunno:

Thanks. The one that mounts to the axle I cant put a cotter pin but the other end has a TRE on it and it has a cotter pin and crown nut.

Still have the death wobble but happens on either bumps higher/lower then 2 inches off the ground or just bad road areas the have nothing but patches on them. Im at a loss as to what is trurly causing it, went over these same bumps many times and it now just started up. Have to go check everything such as pinion angel, etc.. The only thing that has change is the weather outside and I wonder if it has caused my tire pressure to increase to do this. With my stock tires it did this after I had increased the pressure in them after discovering that they were low, took out some air and it didnt happen again. This all happened today within a mile stretch of road that is concrete and just all broke up and patched up. Last one happened right before I went to cross over a bridge, good thing I got it stopped before I went over. If the weather is nice I will try to make a brace for the track bar mount for the frame so it stops flexing, I know that cant be helping to much either. It also makes people stop riding your ass too when this happens. Makes your ass puker up everytime you go to hit a bump.

check everything that can come loose. Every bolt tie rod bushing etc... just one thing that is loose will make everything move causing the death wobble.
Have you checked ball joints?
Try putting a stabilizer on. It will help some.

good thing that didnt happen while driving lol that would suck.

oh yea and theres a scrapped jeep down the road from me, i can get the axles for free. yes i think so

That did happen whuile driving, had to pull into a parking lot not far from home and call a family member to escort me home and it was on that final drive that it was nothing but metal to metal grinding and it was trying to pull me to the right something ferce. You could smell the grease burning up from how much friction was going on in it from in the truck, was still warm an hour later.

On the note of getting things fixed, got a new drag link (called something else at Autozone). Has a life time warrenty on it too. Im just going to replace all the TRE's and the track bar, all is under $100 total to do plus finally put the ranger TRE in the draglink for the pitman arm. But slowly ordering all the parts so that I can get the rewards, track bar is tomorrow to order, they had the draglink in stock. Also need to get a steering stablizer, hate to go cheap on it but we will see when that time comes.
