dangerranger1983 build

looks sweet man.. nice tires.
thanks for the trac bar mount pic, and i'm not even the one that asked lol.. i gotta make one of those soon. which means i'm getting SAS'ed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, i like your tires (I have 33" BFG's) can't wait to see my truck wearing its big boy shoes...

Now it look's like a real truck!!! Tire's and wheel's look good

now you just need to make the truck all one color ..

X2 time to find a warm space and invest in some paint. if nothin else spray bomb it. if you take time and do good prepwork can make most spray paint look really good. i had a 79 civic that was krylon blue everyone would ask who did the paint work. i would kinda chuckle and explain how it was done in a gravel driveway.

Thanks everybody.

As for all one color, well it will never be that way. Plan on painting it the dark gray the cab is but keep the hood the orange color it is or maybe copperhead orange or something similar to what it is. But Ill just wait to paint it when the snow and cold is gone. Plus put my TRS sticker on it too after that. But Im also going to be putting a set of doors on thee truck that have the little triangle windows on them those have been sitting in the garage for almost 3 years.

I cant stop looking at my truck either just love how it has turned out. 32 inch tires are perfect for it. One thing I do have now when I hit a bit enough bump is fender rubbing on the front part, but I cant feel the bump (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa) but I was going to cut that part off anyways, rubbing or not. I will say not that much of a dog driving it, it lowered my rpms by 400 in 4th gear (my 3rd is kinda like 4th but not quite). One thing that I did notice is that the rear likes to slide alot more on ice then my stock tires but that is because there is less tire touching the ground. But the tires do like to kick up the snow and throw it. The tires also raised the truck up about 1.5-2 inches. May just leave the 373 gears in it, tested 4lo at work over some iced up snow hills and had no problems.

Above all hopefully in the next few months buy a gen3 ranger (pre 98) that is 4wd exteded cab manual tranny and has the 4.0, if I can find one and one that is at a decent price. As for colr, that I can change. No plans on modding that truck, just have as a DD.

Need to find a set of D30 axles with the big ujoints so that I can gt rid of my CV joint ones (after they blow up that is) but still have them on hand.\

More to come soon.

hehehe it's started.

you built this truck for hunting, daily driving and what not. before you know it your gonna be pricing out winch's and lookin at all sort's of goodie's

It has most of the goodies but I still need to get the stuff for going off roading such as a winch. Still need to design a spare tire carrier for it, look up designs and make them on my computer using Autodesk.

Might as well build it now so I can play with it more later.

You dont need a winch. Just dont get stuck, thats all, not saying Im going to play it safe.

I noticed I've started doing the same thing just planning my SAS. First was my d30, then 8.8, then a doubler ( have everything just need to have shaft made) the list keeps growing but my budget doesnt :(

you to! stop talking about me! lol

its a domino effect for sure. my plan was body lift and 31's. then i figured out the 4.0 was an option..which meant full drivetrain. then found out my axles suck... so.. i'm addressing that now. lol

i gotta get my d30 swap done. be prepared for lots of questions guys lol

I tell myself the 8.8 is a must since I don't wanna weld my d30 but doing search a lunchbox locker does fine up front so idk... I've grenaded two axles in other trucks so I don't wanna go through another...

spartan locker seems to be the favorite of all my jeep buddies

Im going to go with an autolocker in my front sometime. I took my build slow and plannd ahead. As you all saw took me awhile to get the money to buy my tires and my rims to put on my truck. Ya lookd kinda funny with the stockers but I did what I had to to still drive it around, like my job to pay for all this stuff. Im working min wage ($7.25). One thing you do is stay money ahead in the bank.

Still have fender rubbing when I pull out of my works parking lot so I have to take it slower so that it doesnt continue to happen or I will have to fight the cold and go trim my finders sooner then I planned. Other then that no complaints, just need to figger out my gas mileage which means I have to fill up my tank that is currently at a 1/4 tank. Hate to do that in the winter when I have to let it sit and warm up.

As for upgrading the rear axle not sure if I need to, wont until I grenade the 7.5 I have. People at my work cant believe what I can do in my truck such as climb snow hills and whatnot in my truck. I tell them thats what I have built it to do.

Anyone know if there would be problems with the autolocker in the D30? I keep hearing from all over that it is bad to have them unless you have locking hubs. Then I hear other say it won't be a problem. I want to do something in mine and dont want to fork out the $600+ for a selectable locker...anyone run one with the D30?

I pretty much have to swap out the rear or pay someone way to much money for gears to put into an axle that i really don't plan on keeping to match the gears that are in my d30 since right now my rear has 3.45's and my d30 has 4.10's.. i do have to say that since you got your truck "done" (since they never really are done) i'm going nuts trying to find money for parts to throw mine together ha ha
