This truck is more moody than my girlfriend...I haven't had it a very long time but for the last 2-3weeks its been starting only about half of the time. The other half of the time it just sits and spins over. Checked for spark, got it. Checked for fuel...don't got it. So I tried to see if the pump was coming on with the ignition, about half the time it does and she starts. The other half it doesn't and I aint got any fuel. Tried all the fuses and switched 3 different relays into the socket and no dice. Im thinking the pump is good because it runs real nice and doesnt cut out on me at red lights and what not. So my thought was maybe theres a bad ground somewhere...can anybody tell me where the ground for the fuel pump is?

Edit...guess I should throw in that its a 4 liter 94 ranger

Replace the fuel pump safety switch

Had the same problem. I replaced the fuel pump cutout switch. Its under the carpet at the bottom of the firewall in front of the shifter on the passenger side of the tunnel. Pull the carpet back and you will see it. Its a black rectangular box mounted to the firewall. There is a button on top that resets it should you have a collision or roll the truck over. When the truck won't start push down on the button and it will run. It shuts off the fuel pump. They go bad because the magnet inside gets weak over time and lets the steel ball loose when you hit the brakes or stop suddenly or hit a bump. Its a dealer only item and costs about 40 dollars. Don't remove it or jumper it out. If you should have an accident the fuel pump wil keep running and you may get roasted to death which is an unpleasant way to go. The Tech Library have complete info on replacing it.

Thanks a bunch, I'll have to look into this because it definitely sounds just like what im looking at
