Hey guys, ive acquired the money for my 2wd to sas swap now im just deciding on an axle. Im goin to a local pull-a-part next saturday and they have tons of f150s and 250 that im gonna pull the entire driveline from. 8 lug wheels are so easy to find for trucks compared to the 5 on 5.5. I really dont want my tires to stick out from under the wheel well more than 3 or 4 inches so i plan on narrowing the front, but what about the back axle if it is too wide? and any other complications with a 8 lug d44 and 9"

first off, there is no 8lug 9". its only 5 on 5.5. secondly. I would recommend just getting the 1/2ton F150 axles. D44 and 9". Much easier swap.

Bigger hubs and a bigger axle housing, everything else is the same. No real strength difference I believe.

Personally I would go for the 1/2 ton for coil spring set-up and the better clearance of the 9"

I do like the 3/4 set up because I won't have to get new wheels or rear axles when I upgrade to a 60 front.

I was just wondering how much of a hassle 3/4 ton axles are cuz i could find some nice 8 lug wheels like nothing but as for 5on5.5 I cant find any used on craigslist in my area. Im on a budget if you cant tell
