dose any one know what size the bolt that retains the spring to the axle housing is? im building some2.5in tall 6061 aluminum coils spacers tomarow for my ranger and with out pulling it apart yet i need to know how big a hole i need to bore in the spacers. oh ya and if any one wants to buy some coil spacers from me hit me up i would be happy to turn out some more....thanks in advance.:icon_thumby:

The "bolt" you refer to is actually a stud. Its 3/4" x 10 through the axle housing and the upper portion of it is 5/8" x 11.

And 2.5" spacers are gonna be too tall to prevent the retainer nut from getting sufficient threads, not to mention the fact that it will net over 3.5 inches of lift and in no way shape or form are you going to be able to align it with whatever brakets your using now.

If you do decide to make something that will work, make sure the lower bore is opened up enough to clear the hex of the stud, not just the diameter of the stud's threads. You dont want all that weight resting on top of the stud itself.

x2.....with stock brackest 2 inch is your max and still be able to align the front tires

So right now I have a rancho lift on it but I hate the stink bug look. I don't want to sacrafice lift in the rear so I want to bring the front up. So I'm thinking of eliminating that stud all togeather and puting a bolt through the axle housing long enough to put some 2in spacer on it. From looking at the alignment cams on the baljoint I shoud have plenty of ajustment. But I could be wrong that why I'm trying to get more input on this. Thanks

You can't put a bolt through the housing, the axle shaft is in the way.

A 1.25" spacer is about the max you can go and still get the nut back on (which should be good for just under 2" lift). If you need more than this, I would suggest swapping to longer springs. And like was said, too much and you won't be able to realign it.
(Measure how high your axle beam pivot bolts are relative to your wheel hub centerline. You can go about 2" above the hub centerline and still be able to align it)

So I couldent remove the stud and thread a 3/4 #10 bolt through the sprinf retainer than the spring than the spring pad and than my spacer in to the housing? I don't have the mony for new spring right now if I did I would save some more and put coil overs on it. I'm positive the springs on it are saging the alignment cams are in the most positive position and the wheels still sit negitive. It has tire wear to back that up. I'm gonna use the 2in spaces if my bolt idea will work what do you think?
