my buddy as a 91 ranger with dana 35 and has the knuckles that the brakes have those 2 crappy pins (the ones with the 2 metal pieces connected with rubber) and on my 97 with a dana 35 i have the newer style brakes. would my style knuckles work on his dana 35? pretty much he has to get new knuckles and if he has to get new ones we figured we would upgrade them if possible

Yep, it all converts.

The one thing you need to know ia that ONLY the 1997's
came with the two piston brakes and NO Anti-Lock Brakes

So you MUST buy front "soft lines" for a 1997 Non-ABS.

DO be aware that while the spindles, shafts, "stubs" bearings and locking hubs are all
the same the rotor is different.

You might also note that the later setup uses a different seal setup against the back
of the spindle, I believe the later seal is a better seal, but you don't need the later shaft
to use that later seal, you only need to knock that sheet metal backing disc for the
earlier type seal off the stub.
