i posted a thread a couple months back about this but i did a little research on this and with the current setup i am installing in the truck i think i can run 35s without breaking all too much. so i wanted everyone else thoughts/experiences on this. as for the rear end....8.8 explorer yukon gears 4.56, detroit locker, ruff stuff dif cover. steel braided lines and stainless steel lines, rear disc blah blah blah. that shouldnt be a problem for the 35s. now for the front....yukon 4.56 gears, detroit locker, upgrade u joints to the spicer 5-760x with snap rings, jeep warn hubs. possibly getting the stage 8 lock nut kit.

I'm sure it'll be fine, and beefing it up some will make it get the job done alot easier. The 8.8 will be fine, I've never had a problem with one, except for a traction lock turned spool situation lol

The stage 8 lock nuts will not fit into the RBV hubs.

I run 35's on my D35 and ranger 8.8 and have not had any other issues. I do run the D44 knuckles up front, and it helps.

k i wasnt sure i didnt look into it much. and i was trying to avoid the d44 knuckle swap. we will see tho. 35s are kind of far away. i am kind of doing my build backwards bc of the order of things i broke already. but i am doing all my drivetrain stuff now. i dont even have a lift yet. i am going to be on 31s with 4.56 for a little bit but 6" lift is coming next then 3" body lift and rims and tires. but i figured i would get the front end ready

yeah but luckily i wont have that problem :D

Well my T-lock froze up and made a hell of a noise around a turn lol

I'm going on 5 years & 25,000 miles now running 35s on my D35, not one issue with the hubs, bearings etc. (I do have the Jeep hubs on it). I think you'll be fine.

I would very strongly suggest you reconsider those 4.56 gears though. If you got a 3.0L, then that thing needs 5.13 gears. No two ways about that one.

well after reading this i feel alot better bout my set up. im getting a wicked deal on 36 iroks an i have the exact same set up as you.

36" TSL/SX's have been on my truck for 2 years now with zero breakages. Before I had ran my 35" MT's for over 2 years with no breakages. Regular warn hubs on mine, and just general maintenance. (wheel bearing repack when needed) Detroit locker in the 31spline sploder 8.8 and open d35 w/ 4.56's.

well the 4.56 well be fine for awhile bc i am going to be on 31s til i can buy a lift and rims and 35s but i think i am going to do a 4.0l swap which i was about to research tonight. idk if the 4.0l uses the same transmission as the 3.0l. if all i have to do is just swap engine and ecu and some wiring no big deal. but if it needs a different transmission i am going to go with the orginal plan of a 347 and a well built t5.

the open dif probably helped a lot with not breakage in the front. i am def going to have a locker in the front but i would like to get 35s or 36s on mine.

A locker is definitely on my next to purchase list.

Look at Thumper113's truck as well...28 spline 8.8 and d35, detroit lockers in both and ran 38's for a while, 37's for a bit and 36's on it now IIRC. He has only broken 1 d35 shaft at the u joint.

obviously the bigger the better for tires :D but here these stories def makes me feel better bc i thought i was going to be stuck with 33s. now with a 6" lift do you run into clearance problems with 36s, 37s, 38s? as far as frame clearance. obviously body clearance is a problem that is easily fixed

I'm right around 4.5-5" of actual suspension lift, 3" body lift. With how much my front fenders are trimmed, I don't need the body lift. The only thing that rubs is the side lugs on the swampers grab the radius arms (stock arms)
