So im doing the front inner and outer wheel bearings on my dana 35 ttb and was curious if there was a way to reuse the bearing seals. Or are they perty much crap after you take them out. Also is there a good tutorial with pics on how to change the bearings? want to cover all bases before i start. Any help is appreciated.

They're cheap, just replace them.

You can pull them out and reuse them, if you're careful, but unless your repacking the bearings every few thousand miles just toss new ones on and dont worry about them.

There are things that you can do on the cheap, and there are things you want to do right. Bearings and seals---- do them right.

If you can take those seals out without damaging them, you're a god. I end up busting them every time I repack the inner bearing.

alright i kinda figured. i have just put a little over a thousand miles on the truck since i got it and have been meaning to do the bearings. I was dumb and forgot the seals haha. also would a hammer and punch do a sufficient job of removing the races?

Thats how I have removed bearing races. Use a "brass" punch and take your time removing and installing to seat them in there straight and all the way down. Should make a more solid noise when the race is seated all the way down in the rotor, 2 per side. I would buy new seals as stated above, also.

It's easy, I do it all the time, take a wide flat screwdriver, put it in between the bearing and seal, hold the other side of the bearing down (so it doesn't move upward) and twist your screwdriver, work your way around the outside and the seal will pop right out, undamaged.

Wow, people make things difficult. they come out very easily, just take a big socket and tap the entire bearing and the seal will pop out with it completely undamaged.

And no it wont damage the bearing fi you do it this way it seems more force applied in application than a small tap from a hammer.

well i just did them the other day and now the noise is gone. The up down and side to side wobble is still there. Then also the bad camber. AND loose steering. I know i need to do at least the ball joints. Now is there an adjustment screw or something on the steering box? I have heard of this on other trucks just wondering if there is one on rangers.

Replace the bearings when you replace the rotor, otherwise don't bother.

If the bearings are bad I'd toss the rotor too.
