Just curious, is you buddy locked or open in the rear?...

I've seen quite few blown up 4.56 and 4.88 HP D30 gear sets, the gears are just too small.

It was welded in the rear, lockright in the front.

i don't really know how yall do things, but I have said before I have a friend with a 90 model YJ he is running a built 350sbc, 4.88s open diff on 39.5 boggers and has NEVER cleaned teeth off of his R&P or broken a shaft, i know the d35 in my 99 would ever hold up to 39.5s.

Roomates Father owns a YJ, 37" MTR's drives it like the old man he is. Fully built HP D30, warn hub kit, Alloy USA shafts, Spicer joints, lunch box locker, 4.56 or 4.88's cant remember which. When he isnt breaking aftermarket shafts he is stripping ring and pinions. Hes had two R&P's go in the past year or so.

never ran bigger than 33"-35" tires

also when i had the lockrite in it... enlarged the x-pin hole by like 2x over a period of les than 2years... gears were also all chipped up and breaking, never cleaned them off though. Sold the axles before that happened.
